Training & Capacity Building

We constantly work with our artisans to augment their capabilities as well as work to improve our production processes. Recently we have been focussing on:

Improving Spinning Process

We’re actively introducing new methods for measuring yarn and ensuring quality. This involves training our artisans to wind their hand-spun yarn into hanks of specific lengths, like 100, 200, or 250 metres. They also learn to tag each hank with important details such as their name, their group, their village, the number of metres spun, and the weight of the yarn. We’ve designed special tools, called “Raats” or hank winders, and adapted these based on the feedback from the spinners themselves to make this process easier.

Developing a cadre of women leaders

We’re also working towards supporting a cadre of women artisans  who have grown into leaders while working with us, and many of them have played a critical role in our growth.

Skill Development for the Community

We plan to train local people in machine shearing, Carding, Scouring, Combing and other such processes. Our aim is to ensure that while we invest in research for development of small scale  machinery which can be installed in villages to process wool, we also focus on developing skills within the community to run these machines and generate local employment.

Our Internship and Volunteer Programs:

Through our internship and volunteer programs, we offer individuals a chance to get hands-on experience in sustainable textile production, covering everything from where the raw wool comes from to the beautiful finished products.
